As the Manning cup team crashes out of the 2016 Issa Manning Cup Competition, the Colts and Pepsi teams prepare to take the championship in the ISSA Colts and Pepsi Football Competition.

This Thursday is not just the start of the competition for the Pepsi and Colts teams but it is also the start of a journey to reclaim the pride of Ascot which received an undesirable blow in this year's Manning Cup Competition.

Summary of Manning Cup Season 2016

After obtaining 4 points from their first two matches in the competition, Ascot never recovered. Ascot defeated Papine 2-1 at home and drew with Norman Manley 1-1 in the subsequent match. Goals by Chazz Graham, an upcoming midfielder, are responsible for the result. However, Ascot lost to Denham town 1-0 at home and then was brutally punished by Kingston College losing to them 13 goals to 1 in the subsequent match at the Stadium East. Interestingly though, Ascot was the only team to have scored on Kingston College at this point in the competition. Ascot then played St Mary's College and lost 3-2 under the direction of a new coach at St Mary's College. Hoping that luck or good fortune would have fallen upon them, the boys faced Papine at Papine in high spirits, but they were to be crushed bruisingly losing 6 goals to nil. Norman Manley believing that the recent woes that befell Ascot would have rendered the team incapacitated came to Ascot with unmatched confidence believing that they were going to easily go away with three points, but they were to be disappointed as they only managed to leave with a point. The game ended without the scoring of any goal. Kingston College then visited Ascot at their new home field in Cedar Grove. It was always going to be a win for Kingston College, but the Ascot supporters were more concerned about the magnitude of the victory in this match as any lost like that they received in the previous match would have undoubted thrown the team and the supporters in a vortex of psychological depression. In the end, Ascot lost 5-0 to relief of many apprehensive and debilitated Ascot fans. Having been gifted by God with an opportunity to easily win their last match, Ascot squandered the opportunity and only came away with a point ending the match 2-2. Nonetheless, Ascot exited the tournament with a total of 5 points (1 win and 2 draws) - 5 more points than that with which they had left the tournament last year. An undoubtedly massive improvement.

Reclaiming Glory

Inspite of the disappointments faced by the Manning Cup teams, the Pepsi teams and the Colts teams are confident that they can reclaim the reputation of Ascot by ensuring that they have a better showing in their respective competitions. But the road ahead is not paved with goal and littered with honey as their first competitor is Jamaica College at Jamaica College. They are not daunted by the challenges ahead. On the other hand they have resolved in themselves to ensure that they make the Ascot family and supporters proud and reclaim the glory of Ascot football.
